About Adam

Adam Davis Galleher was 26 years old when he passed away suddenly from viral meningitis. He was a wonderful son, brother, respected member of his community with many friends.

He was raised in Valle Crucis, just outside of Boone, NC, moving there from California in 1994 with his family. He was a member of Holy Cross Episcopal Church, where he and his siblings served as Acolytes.

The church sponsored Troop 160 of the Boy Scouts of America,of which Adam was a proud member. He attended Boy Scout summer camp annually and had the opportunity to participate in a trek to Philmont Scout Ranch in New Mexico. He earned the rank of Eagle Scout in October of 2003. Scouting was a significant part of Adam’s youth.

Adam always had a love for music. He began playing the violin in the 4th grade, but soon moved to playing the drums. It was at Watauga High School in Boone, NC that he discovered his love for playing the drums in the Marching Band. He lived for Friday night football games to play with the band. His sister Ashley followed right behind him playing the drums in marching band also, and YES, they were competitive!

He graduated from Watauga High School in 2004 and his passion for cars took him to Wyoming Technical Institute in Laramie, Wyoming. He graduated there in 2006 with his Associates of Arts degree in Collision Repair/ Custom Paint and Hot Rod Fabrication. Following graduation, he worked in the automotive field for several years. Adam’s love for his family eventually brought him back to the mountains of NC. He had always loved tools and working with his hands, so he began working for the family business, Michael Galleher Construction. He picked up carpentry quickly, and decided to purchase his first home, a “fixer upper”. He was in the process of renovating his home at the time of his passing.

Adam had a special passion for music, well beyond high school marching band. To satisfy his need for music in his everyday life he could pick up any instrument and learn to play it. This love led him to becoming a DJ, where he composed and performed around the region with the stage name AdamX.

In the months before Adam’s passing, he attended his cousin’s wedding in Iowa, his Great Aunt’s 90th birthday party, decorated the Christmas tree with his family, had Christmas dinner with his Grandmother, and connected with his family in a way that has left lasting wonderful memories.

He loved people, never met a stranger and had a smile that could light up a room. He will be missed by all who loved him. Smile on, Adam Davis Galleher.
